Catena is able to display video in the Process Flow, Activity, and 10-Cycle
Analysis screens.
Two types of video connections are supported.
· Playback and Control of Digital Video (DV) through a miniDV video
camera connected via a IEEE 1394 (FireWire/iLink) cable or streaming via
USB.
· Playback and Control of video files (AVI, MPEG, and WMV formats) from
flash and hard drive based video cameras.
Depending on the type of video format, connection to the video camera and the
video camera manufacturer’s Windows driver support, not all features may be
available.
To configure the source of video, open a Project's data file and select Video
Camera from the Configuration menu.
Playback from a miniDV Camera
To play back from a miniDV video camera connected via IEEE 1394 or USB,
click the radio button for the "miniDV Video Tap Camera" option and then select
the name of your video camera driver from the camera configuration dialog box
when it appears:
If the video camera is connected using a USB cable, select “USB (Streaming)”. If
the video camera is connected using a IEEE 1394 cable, select “IEEE-1394
(FireWire, iLink)”.
When connected via IEEE 1394 cable, full playback, control, and date/time code
features are available. When connected via USB, only steaming mode is
available (video control and date/time code features will not function). It is
recommended to connect via IEEE 1394 if possible.
To determine which type of connection is available, look at
the symbol
on the cable or at the computer connection point.
IEEE 1394 connections are marked with the word IEEE-1394, FireWire,
DV, iLink or one of these symbols: .
USB connections are marked with this symbol: .
If both connection types are available on the camera and computer, select
IEEE 1394 as this connection is designed specifically for digital video (dv)
applications and full control will be available.
Playback of a video file from Hard Drive or Flash based Video
Camera
To play back from a video file, select "Hard Drive / Flash Video File or Camera"
as the Video Source Type and then enter the path and name of the video file (or
click the “…” button to browse to the file.)
Valid video files are *.avi, *.mpg, and *.wmv. When playing back from a video
file, full playback, control, and time/counter control is available. Date code is not
available in this format.
Note: Prior to selecting your video file, ensure that
the video camera is
plugged in to the computer and recognized by the Operating System as a
removable storage device. The location of the video on the camera will
vary by manufacturer, however, they are typically stored inside sub-folders
under the MP_ROOT directory. See your video camera's documentation
for additional details on where to locate the video on your device.
Once configuration is complete, select OK to close the window.
