As the saying goes - what gets measured gets done therefore, it is important to
not only identify waste and put countermeasures in place, but to hold people
accountable to following standard work and operating the process as defined.
The Employee Skill Card functions as a performance review putting focus on the
process. If you already have a performance review system in place, it is not
meant to replace that or create duplicate work. However, the approach of
measuring what is important and having objective scoring criteria should be
followed.
How To Use
1. From the Project Panel, click the Sustain tab, then the Employee Skill Card
button.
Catena will launch Microsoft Exceland load the Employee Skill Card tool into it.

of the employee will be entered into the scorecard.
Note: If you have multiple employees who use the same standard work
activities and/or skills, you may wish to enter these on the
SKILLCARD_TEMPLATE. If you do so, clicking on the Add Employee button on
the instructions tab will preserve these values on the new worksheet.

Also enter the employee’s start date, last review (update), date of upgrade and
qualification (see step 7).
4. Identify standard work activities for the work area and input in the appropriate
area. These should be the primary activities of someone working in the specific
area.
5. Identify additional skills that an employee working in the area might perform.
These will typically be tasks that are performed around the primary activities or
technical skills or knowledge required to perform the work.
6. Using the skill levels of 1-5 and the associated definition for each level, rate
the
employee’s ability in each of the primary and additional skills.
7. As appropriate, use the comments sections to provide specific feedback relevant
to the employee’s performance in the skill or activity.
8. Two thresholds are available. When the employee has made significant progress
towards achieving standard work methods, the Score field will turn yellow.
By default, this Upgrade level is set at 70%, but may be adjusted in the
Thresholds box.
When the employee becomes fully Qualified, the Score field will turn green.
By default, this threshold is set at 90%, but may also be adjusted using the
Thresholds box.
9. For the card to be meaningful, it should be reviewed with the employee and the
indicated levels of Supervision and Management.

the card, click the Print button.

11. To email a copy of
the card, click the Email button.
